Miss S is having her first Fourth of July Celebration this evening. She was able to go out late last night when neighbors were setting off fireworks that zoomed up into the sky. I was not really sure that she was able to see them as there is some question as to whether she is visual. She wears glasses and keeps them on and one eye is very weak. But because she is unable to cooperate for an exam the only real way we would know is to sedate her and there is too much risk to do that just for an eye exam given her health problems. I was talking to a neighbor when all of a sudden a very bright firework went up and she giggled. Music to my ears.We did not stay out long as the mosquitoes were really bad. tonight we will have some ground fountains in our front yard so all the girls will enjoy them. We do them around dusk as the girls do not like staying up late.
I do have a mosquito repellent lantern that I will put out before I take the girls out so they will be protected. I don’t like to put stuff on their skin in case they put their hands in their mouths, etc.
I am excited for them and will take pics for their memory books.
It is awesome where we live as there are these huge fireworks all over town and in every direction. I love it!
I grew up with a father who loved fireworks and we always went to see the big ones sitting on the side of a hill where they shot them over the ocean. When they would shoot them off you could feel the hillside tremble and there would always be at least one car where a boulder rolled on top of it! Years later they decided to blast for a highway and in doing so opened up a fault and many really expensive homes slid off their foundations into the ocean. Anyone who watched fireworks on that hillside could have predicted that would happen.
Anyhow tonight it will be party time! Safe and bug free. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the firefly's are awesome this year!
